DHS allegedly having problems
guarding its own HQ
The Department of Homeland Security is having
difficulty safeguarding its own headquarters, private security guards at
the complex tell The Associated Press.
The guards have taken their concerns to Congress, describing inadequate
training, failed security tests and slow or confused reactions to bomb
and biological threats.

- The Federal Protective Service (FPS) and the
Department of Homeland Security has selected Tri-S Security
Corp., Atlanta, to provide security services for federal buildings
in Southwestern Washington state, through Tri-S subsidiary Paragon
Systems Inc.
- Pacom Systems, Sarasota, Fla., has received certification
from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to offer its
security products and solutions to all federal, state and local
government agencies.
- ICOP Digital Inc., Lenexa, Ks., has been awarded a five-year
contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) as a
contracted supplier, with an option to renew for three additional
five-year periods.
- The Monroe County Volunteer Fire Police Association in Upstate New
York has chosen AeroLight wearable self-illuminating gear from
SculpTek Corp., Rochester, N.Y. The safety gear ranges from belts
to sashes and is worn over uniforms and helmets, making emergency
responders more visible at the scene of an emergency or to drivers on
the road.
