2009 Brings Security Trends And Threats
Cybercrime and outsourcing were named top security concerns according to a new study commissioned by Lumension Security and conducted independently by The Ponemon Institute.

The survey found that 50 percent of IT operations professionals viewed outsourcing as an imminent and near-time critical risk, while more than 75 percent of IT security professionals noted cybercrime a major issue -despite concerted efforts to thwart hackers in recent years. In tandem, survey results highlighted an increase in shared thinking between traditionally disparate IT functions within the organization - IT operations and IT security.

Research Shows More Consumers Trust Biometrics
A majority of Americans are comfortable using common biometric technologies for authentication according to a recent survey conducted by Unisys. The biometrics survey was conducted alongside the latest installment of the Unisys Security Index, which found that a majority of Americans continue to have strong concerns about identity theft and fraud with their credit and debit cards.

If a suspicious item is located, teachers are instructed not to touch it and to report it immediately to building administration.

Assistant Superintendent Lynn Barnett said those guidelines are supposed to be confidential, but she confirmed that during a bomb threat, teachers are expected to look for unfamiliar items. Nobody but a teacher could assess a classroom for items that don't belong, she said.
