Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM has acquired Dublin, Ireland-based Cúram Software
Ltd. Cúram Software is used by health and human services, workforce services, and social security organizations to deliver welfare, social insurance and individual and employer-based social programs. The acquisition builds on IBM's Smarter Cities initiatives and broadens IBM Ireland's role.
Bryn Mawr, Pa.-based Aqua America, Inc. has completed the sale of its Maine operations, which includes 11 water systems serving 16,000 customers in 17 communities throughout Maine, to Connecticut Water Service, Inc. The sale to Connecticut Water is the first of two such sales Aqua America is expected to close this year. The company announced in July 2011 an agreement to sell its New York operations (seven water systems that serve approximately 50,520 customers) to American Water Works Company, Inc. Following the upcoming sale of New York, Aqua America will have concentrated its regulated operations in nine states (Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Illinois, Texas, New Jersey, Florida, Indiana and Virginia). The company also maintains a non-regulated wastewater operation in Georgia.
CDM and Wilbur Smith Associates have combined to form CDM Smith. Based in
Cambridge, Mass., the full-service consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm offers water, environment, transportation, energy and facilities services.
Irvine, Calif.-based access control systems provider HID Global has acquired EasyLobby, whose products provide visitor registration, tracking, reporting
and badge printing, as well as web-based pre-registration and
employee/contractor time and attendance.
