Contracts and Awards Announcements
New York City's Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) has received the Innovations in American Government Award from the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. The center designs, implements, and evaluates unique initiatives that combat urban poverty among New York's low-income workers, at-risk youth, and families with children. Over the last five years, CEO has collaborated with 28 city agencies to launch and scale up more than 50 programs and policy initiatives in the areas of asset development, employment and training, and education.

The Gainesville, Ga., Public Safety Complex has received a Regional Design-Build award for best public project over $15 million from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The complex includes two facilities on a single campus: a 52,340-square-foot police department and municipal court, and a 28,000-square-foot fire station. Atlanta-based Heery International served as the design-builder for the $18 million project.

St. Helens, Ore., has received an Oregon Leaders Award for Industrial Energy Efficiency from the Oregon Department of Energy. The award recognizes the city's cost reductions in operating its wastewater treatment plant, which it shares with a local paper mill. The plant installed SolarBee solar-powered mixers, which reduced aeration horsepower by more than 60 percent and saved the city more than $100,000 compared to the previous year.

For more information on these and other awards related to city, county and state governments, as well as technology, public safety, transportation and water contracts, visit our Contracts and Awards Announcements page.
