New 25-degree turning inserts are said to increase productivity and
reduce tooling costs in copy turning. The inserts have a corner relief
angle of 25 degrees, which is 10 degrees smaller than conventional VNMG
series inserts. The inserts, good for machining bearings, punches, and
pulley components, reduce undesired interference with the workpiece and
allow for machining operations in difficult areas where 35-degree
inserts are not effective.

An Alberti countersinking head, the result of a joint effort between
Alberti and a large European commercial aircraft manufacturer, has been
introduced to North American aircraft part manufacturers. The rivet
countersinking head features a spring-loaded cutting tool body with a
stationary stop to machine chamfers automatically to a precise depth on
aircraft part surfaces with constantly changing curves. Various spring
modules are available depending on the required axial cutting pressure.

A new multi-functional manual clamping system is easily and quickly
adjusted, whether for conventional clamping, very low clamping depths
for 5-sided machining, molded parts, plates or workpieces with saw cut
surfaces. Its design facilitates the assembly of high supporting jaws
for 5-axis machining.

With a new quick-jaw change chuck a complete jaw set can be changed
in less than 60 seconds, with a repeatability of less than 0.0005 in
This eliminates the need to re-bore jaws in many cases. A wedge-bar
actuation system allows the chuck to offer large through holes with fast
spindle speeds. The chuck reduces downtimes and helps to maximize
throughput and return-on-investment of any turning center.
