    Presidential address

Last week, we asked readers if they thought it was appropriate for the President of the United States to give a back-to-school speech to the nation's students. Here is some of your feedback:

    • "If we can not allow our President to speak to our students about the importance of education and provide a role model for the results of hard work, then we will have generations of uneducated people who cannot make a successful living in the 21st century," says one reader.

This week, officials at a Colorado middle school have urged students to stop wearing rubbery bracelets because of reports that they may carry sexual meanings. Students contend that the bracelets do not have hidden meanings and that they wear them to be fashionable. Do you think the school made a sound decision to discourage students from wearing the bracelets?

    A. Yes. Schools should take steps to ensure that students are not exposed to sexualization before they are mature enough to handle it.
    B. No. The school has overreacted and created a sexually charged dispute where none existed.
    C. Other.

    What do you think?
