Suburban charter
schools
This week, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that
even though charter schools were intended initially to boost education
in troubled urban schools, in the Twin Cities area, more
charter schools have opened in the suburbs than in Minneapolis and St.
Paul. Do you think it is a good use of resources for charter schools
to open in suburban areas?
A. Yes. If enough suburban students and
their families are seeking the programs charter schools offer, the
schools should be allowed to operate in those areas.
B. No. The education system should
concentrate its reform efforts where change is most needed and offer
charter programs as an alternative to underperforming urban schools.
C. Other.

nothing to improve education in the district: "Shiny new schools do not
