Harmonic announces new 16-channel encoder
I had dinner at the Altmann restaurant in Amsterdam with Sarah Lum, director of marketing communications and David Price, vice president of marketing, from Harmonic this evening. Because the menu was in Dutch, I have no idea what I ate, but it was good.

I was introduced to the Harmonic’s new ProStream 4000 multiscreen transcoder. The encoder is a multiscreen, real-time, IP-based transcoder supporting a broad range of applications and codecs and seamlessly integrates into existing IP headends...


Snell & Wilcox Mach 1 comes to IBC
Snell & Wilcox today introduced the Mach HD, a compact HD/SD motion-compensated standards converter to IBC today. The Mach HD is equipped with up/down/crossconversion and synchronization capabilities. The Mach HD is meant to be a state-of-the-art motion-compensated standards conversion in an entry-level solution and enables broadcasters to make a smooth and cost-effective transition to HD transmission...

After a brief walk from my hotel (located in the bowels of Amsterdam) to DAM square, where I could get the tram, my shoes look like I took a shower in them. Now, two hours later, they are still wet and probably will be for the next week!
