Garlic Salt Keeps Roads Safe
Driving through Ankeny, Iowa, this winter might make you hungry. The city is using garlic salt donated by a spice producer headquartered in the town to melt snow and ice on the roads. It works well when mixed with regular road salt, according to Public Works Administrator Al Olson, although one worker reported, "It makes you feel like ordering a steak and a baked potato."

Even Santa Has to Obey Parking Laws
A New York City traffic agent gave Santa Claus a ticket for double parking while he was delivering children's Christmas presents. Santa (aka Chip Cafiero) said, "The kids started crying: 'That's Santa's car! That's Santa's car!' But this grinch just went ahead and fined me anyways."
