Integrated Marketing Boosts NC Symphony Ticket Sales

A multichannel approach of direct mail, radio, email and print has helped the Winston-Salem Symphony increase ticket sales by more than 50% and increase the number of concert series subscribers by 12%.

The integrated marketing is part of an effort to decrease the North Carolina organization's emphasis on large scale printed materials and get lapsed subscribers back into the fold.

Glamour, SpyderLynk Test Scan Shopping from the Back of a Taxi

Glamour magazine and mobile activation platform SpyderLynk are using New York's Fashion Week to pilot a feature that will let shoppers scan a tag and buy products from the back seat of a cab.

The "Shop the Look" test will let riders watch demo videos of L'Oreal beauty products on taxi TV and then buy those items by scanning or taking a picture of a SnapTag, sending it to SpyderLynk, and paying from a mobile wallet.

Netflix Metrics: Subscriber Levels Rebound And Profits Rise After PR Misstep

When Netflix first announced plans to separate its DVDs-by-mail from its streaming video business – and raise fees for customers who wanted both options – customers were furious. Around 810,000 of them canceled their subscriptions, exceeding the 600,000 the company had expected to lose. At the end of third-quarter 2011, in which Netflix made its announcement, its total U.S. subscriber base stood at just under 23.8 million, down from 24.6 million.

But by then end of the fourth quarter, Netflix had added 610,000 customers to its U.S. subscriber base. The catch is that nearly all of those subscriptions are, at least initially, added within its "free subscriber" promotional category.
