SEC Sues Bally on Fraud Charges, Reaches
Settlement
CHICAGO -- On the same day the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) filed a civil lawsuit against Bally Total Fitness on financial
fraud charges, the Chicago-based health club company reached a
settlement with the SEC. However, the SEC's investigation is continuing,
according to a statement.

Growth in 2007
NEW YORK -- Town Sports International reported a 7.9 percent
increase in revenue in the fourth quarter of last year and a 9.2 percent
revenue growth for the year, according to a statement the company
released Thursday. Fourth quarter 2007 revenue was $118.9 million, up
from $110.2 million during the same period in 2006. Revenue for the year
was $472.9 million, up from $433.1 million in 2006. Read the full story.

Percent Revenue Increase
CHANHASSEN, MN -- Life Time Fitness reported 22.8 percent revenue
growth in the fourth quarter of last year and 28.1 percent revenue
growth for the year, according to a statement from the company. Fourth
quarter 2007 revenue was $171.1 million, up from $139.3 million during
the same period last year. Revenue for the year was $655.8 million, up
from $511.9 million in 2006. Memberships grew 12.5 percent in 2007 to

Students Vote on Rec Center Renovation
AMES, IA -- Last week, Iowa State University students voted on a
proposed $52.8 million recreation plan that ISU recreation professionals
are calling an "extreme makeover" for the Lied Recreation Center.

Marines Buddy Up with
North Carolina Residents
HARRISBURG, NC -- North Carolina citizens braved the cold and worked
out like Marines for the Marine Buddy Challenge that was held in late
January. The challenge was based on the Marines' physical fitness test
and is part of the Marine Corps Semper Fi Racing Series.
Held by the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte (NC),
teams of two participated in four fitness tests and a three-mile run,
all while carrying packs weighing 10 percent of their body weight and
staying in unison with their partners. Marines cheered on the teams
during the race. All race proceeds went to The Colonel Richard A.
Christie Memorial Fund, which provides scholarship assistance to former
Marines to help them attend colleges across the nation.

Nintendo Taps into
Fitness Market
REDMOND, WA -- Nintendo recently announced plans to release a
fitness-related video game for Wii users. The game, Wii Fit, launches
May 19 and will include the weight-and-motion-sensing Wii Balance Board.
The board is used for a variety of dynamic activities, including
aerobics, core training, yoga, muscle stretches and games, according to
Nintendo. Additionally, Wii Fit includes access to the Wii Fit Channel,
an interactive channel that lets users check in each day to track their
fitness progress through their weight and body mass index. In Japan, Wii
Fit has sold more than 1.4 million units since its Dec. 1 launch.

and member-management software company based in Sugar Land, TX,
announced translation of its software into six new languages: Spanish,
Dutch, Russian, Greek, Hebrew and Arabic. These are in addition to
French, Italian, German and Turkish, which were made available last
year. The launch of the software in multiple languages is in response to
the increased need worldwide to manage member-based businesses.
