Revenue Grows 31 Percent

its fourth quarter 2006 revenue grew 34.5 percent, and its 2006 revenue

Employee Faces Sexual Abuse Charges
GUILDERLAND, NY -- A Bally Total Fitness employee in Guilderland,
NY, is facing separate charges of sexual abuse. James Carter was
arrested on Feb. 3 and charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse and
unlawful imprisonment. According to the Albany (NY) Times Union, police
said that Carter locked himself and a female client in a back room at
the Bally's facility in Crossgates Mall and forcibly touched her. Read

Elements Hits 25 Milestone
SOUTH BEACH, FL -- By the end of last year, the women-only club
Elements had hit a 25-club milestone, and so far this year, the company
has opened one club in Exeter, NH, with another 25 clubs in development
across the United States, according to Chris Palumbo, brand strategist
for the company. Elements offers fitness and weight loss services and
bills itself as a boutique-style health club.
At two Elements locations the company is piloting workout technology
that automatically calibrates equipment to a member's preference,
records her workout, tracks her heart rate and makes recommendations for
future progress.

Could Affect Other Groups
DENVER -- The dispute over whether YMCA of the Rockies should be
exempt from paying property taxes on its two mountain camps continues
and could affect more than 6,000 other religious-based organizations
across Colorado, officials told the Associated Press last week.

Penn State Going
Hands On
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- Penn State University is preparing to alter
the access to its student fitness center. Instead of using ID cards,
students will use a system that recognizes a person by the
characteristics of their hand, according to the Collegian.
West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV, already uses a similar
system at its student rec center. Because of some technological
problems, however, Penn State is about two years away from using the new
identification system.

Forming Advisory Committee
WASHINGTON, DC -- Taking another step towards developing the
physical activity guidelines announced in October, the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS) is creating an Activity Guidelines
Advisory Committee. Beginning in June, the committee will meet three
times over one year to review scientific literature that could help them
develop specific physical activity recommendations. The recommendations
would be gathered in a report that would be sent to the secretary of
HHS. The committee will also recommend areas for further scientific

Announces Record Revenue

announced record net sales of $199.3 million for fourth quarter 2006.

Clawson as president and Kent Stevens as executive vice president.
Stevens had been vice president, sales. Both appointments were effective
Feb. 19.
