Achievement Award Goes to Alan Schwartz

Bally Obtains Waiver and Forbearance
Agreements
CHICAGO -- Bally Total Fitness announced Tuesday that it has secured
limited waiver and forbearance agreements from the requisite holders of
its 10 1/2 percent Senior Notes due 2011 and its 9 7/8 percent Senior
Subordinated Notes due 2007.

Rhode Island
Attorney General Dismisses Six Clubs From Lawsuit
PROVIDENCE, RI -- The Rhode Island Attorney General's office said
Thursday that it has dismissed six of the 10 clubs from a lawsuit
alleging they failed to properly register with the state, according to a
report on the TV news Web site www.turnto10.com.
The office also said a hearing to request temporary restraining orders
against the other four gyms was put on hold because those clubs are
working to comply with the state law, which requires health clubs to
register annually with the attorney general's department and provide
proof that they are in compliance with zoning, fire and building codes,
and that they are bonded. The gyms faced fines and temporary shutdowns.
New York Sports
Clubs to Open 50th NYC Club
NEW YORK -- New York Sports Clubs (NYSC) will open its Rego Park
location June 1 in Queens, NY, the company announced. The club will be
the 50th NYSC location in New York City.
The 22,000-square-foot facility will feature a cardiovascular area with
more than 70 pieces of cardio equipment, all of which will be equipped
with personal viewing screens. Cycling and group exercise classes and a
dedicated personal training area will be among the options for club
members. There will also be a member lounge and a playroom featuring
babysitting services.
Idaho Y Buys For-Profit Fitness
Center
TWIN FALLS, ID -- In a deal announced Monday, the YMCA of Twin Falls
(ID) will purchase Twin Falls Fitness Center under the condition that
the Y continues to operate it as a fitness center, The Times-News

Marshall University to Begin
Construction on New Rec Center
HUNTINGTON, WV -- Marshall University's Board of Governors approved
a resolution Monday on an agreement with Capstone Management of
Birmingham, AL, to build a 123,000-square-foot recreation center
scheduled to open in January 2009. Read the full story.
Sacramento State
Center Gets OK
SACRAMENTO, CA --- The California State University board of trustees
approved construction of a Recreation and Wellness Center at Sacramento
(CA) State, the Sacramento Bee reported.
The $71 million, 150,000-square-foot facility, which is scheduled for
completion in June 2010, will include a fitness center, indoor track,
multipurpose sport courts and a rock-climbing wall. There also will be a
full-service student health center.

Air Force Pay Cuts Unlikely
YOKOTA AIR BASE, JAPAN -- Budget problems aren't likely to disrupt
the paychecks of Air Force personnel in fitness and recreational
facilities, even if funding earmarked for the Army isn't restored
through passage of a supplemental bill, according to Gen. Paul Hester,
