Holcim officially opens 4 million-ton/year Mississippi River mill

Holcim (US) has opened one of the world’s largest cement operations on a 3,900-acre, Mississippi River front site, capping nearly 10 years of permitting and upwards of $1 billion in equipment, construction and site investments. With production capacity of 4 million metric tons/year and access to population centers consuming 5–10 times that output, the Ste. Genevieve County, Mo., plant becomes a crown jewel for Holcim (US) and Swiss parent Holcim Group. Click here for full story





Agg Industries-NE tab nears $10 million in expedited Clean Water compliance plan

After five years of investigation, three years of negotiations with federal officials, and $6.8 million already spent on remediation at 23 Massachusetts and New Hampshire operations, Aggregate Industries–Northeast (NE) Region Inc. will pay a $2.75 million civil penalty and implement a regional evaluation and compliance program to resolve violations of the Clean Water Act. Maryland, Carolinas join list of states with Green-Star-certified facilities
