    Plumbing Foundation Announces New Chairman

    NEW YORK — The Board of Directors of the Plumbing Foundation, the public affairs and educational arm of the plumbing industry here, has announced that Robert Greenberg of Evergreen Mechanical Corp. has become its new chairman.

    UBS Tower at One North Wacker Earns Green Certification

    CHICAGO -- The UBS Tower at One North Wacker Drive here has earned a LEED-Existing Building certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

    One North Wacker is a 1.3 million square foot building at the corner of Wacker Dr. and Madison St. in Chicago’s West Loop submarket. Developed in 2001 by The John Buck Co., the tower predated the LEED-EB program. However, the forethought in building the Class A tower’s advanced systems made achieving certification possible.

    ATLANTA ⎯ A new publication written specifically for K-12 school buildings will aid design teams in building energy-smart schools using off-the-shelf technology that can cut energy use by 30% or more annually.

    Groups Produce Code Reference Series

    CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Cengage Learning, the International Code Council and DEWALT have announced the release of the DEWALT Code Reference Series.
    The series is a line of reference books based on each topic's complementary codebook. Each pocket-sized manual in the series is made with durable metal binding and tear-resistant pages and contains full-color illustrations to help plumbers, builders and HVAC contractors in the field easily access information on the job.

    Green Mechanical Training Manual Available

    MOUNT PROSPECT, ILL. -- HVAC Excellence and Ferris State University recently agreed to work together to address a gap in “green mechanical” education.
    The partnership resulted in the development of a new training manual, “Green Mechanical Systems - Awareness of Fundamental and Emerging Green Technologies.” The manual, printed by ESCO Press, is designed to provide a basic understanding of green concepts, terminologies, systems, and the latest in green mechanical technology. Ferris State University and HVAC Excellence are developing additional technical training manuals covering an array of green mechanical issues.
