    MEP Jobs announces partnership

    URBANDALE, IOWA – MEP Jobs and OnTarget Jobs announced a marketing and content partnership that will target thousands of employers and p-h-c- professionals throughout the OnTarget Jobs network of niche sites. The partnership launched in March 2008.

    The partnership includes job postings, resumes, cross marketing and cooperation on relevant employment-related content.

    Program assists veterans in starting businesses

    WACO, TEXAS – Mr. Rooter and The Dwyer Group Inc. have initiated a new program to assist transitioning military personnel and current veterans in building their own businesses.

    The Program for Assisting Veteran Entrepreneurship (PAVE) offers veterans and their families an opportunity to put the practical management skills they developed in the military to use in civilian life. PAVE is open to all veterans who have been honorably discharged by a DD214 or similar documentation.

    Women in HVACR announces 2008 officers, board

    CLEVELAND -- Women in HVACR, the organization committed to educating, networking and mentoring women in all facets of the HVACR industry, has announced its 2008 board of directors. The 10 women bring a combined experience from all facets of the HVACR industry.

    Taking the helm for 2008 as president is Karen Riffice of Soderlund Brothers Inc. from Oaklawn, Ill. With more than 30 years of experience in the contracting side of the industry, Riffice sees her presidency as the perfect opportunity to give back to the field who has given her so much. One of her goals as president is for the group to increase its outreach into schools to raise awareness about careers in the HVAC industry. She also wants the organization to continue facilitating networking between members, whether it's in person or over the phone.

    Green mechanical training manual available

    MOUNT PROSPECT, ILL. -- HVAC Excellence and Ferris State University recently agreed to work together to address a gap in “green mechanical” education.

    The partnership resulted in the development of a new training manual, “Green Mechanical Systems - Awareness of Fundamental and Emerging Green Technologies.”

    The manual, printed by ESCO Press, is designed to provide a basic understanding of green concepts, terminologies, systems, and the latest in green mechanical technology.

    Group announces Hall of Leaders

    DALLAS – The Hall of Leaders recently was launched to profile notable leaders from the plumbing and air conditioning industry who have been recognized as “Servant Leaders” by the Service Roundtable. The Hall of Leaders is accessible from the Service Roundtable’s Website under the “Servant Leaders” tab.

    The “Servant Leader” Award recognizes outstanding individuals who lead through service to their industry and the people in their industry.

    The five people who have been recognized with the award are Charlie Greer, Ron Smith, Frank Blau, Jeff Forker and Tom McCart.

    Technical college receives boiler donation

    OAK CREEK, WIS. ⎯ Cleaver-Brooks has donated two Clearfire Series boilers to Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Center for Energy Conservation and Advanced Manufacturing at the college’s campus here.

    The boilers ⎯ estimated to be worth a combined $70,000 ⎯ will be used by those participating in ECAM’s power engineering and HVAC service programs and the steamfitter and pipe fitter apprenticeship programs. ECAM was designed to serve as a model for energy efficiency and manufacturing resource technologies for students, workers and businesses. ECAM provides customer-driven services through strategic partnerships with business and education to enhance global competitiveness.
