    The residential fire sprinkler debate: two sides of the same coin

    There are definitely two sides to every issue, that’s for sure. The article I wrote concerning the Pennsylvania residential fire sprinkler mandate up for consideration got our readers talking, and many of them aired their opinions on Contractor’s website.

    It’s very interesting … the different perspectives on this issue. On one hand, safety seems to be most important when discussing fire sprinkler systems. On the other hand it seems there are concerns that sprinkler systems are too expensive and no one will be able to afford a new home with the added cost.

    Team Mechanical completes design, installation of solar wall for Grainger

    Trautman & Shreve wins Denver crime lab job

    DENVER — EMCOR Group Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Trautman & Shreve Inc., has been awarded a contract for the installation of all the mechanical systems at the new Denver Police Crime Laboratory here.

    Trautman & Shreve will install all the mechanical systems in the new Denver Police Crime Lab, a state-of-the-art, 60,000-sq.ft. building that will replace an existing facility, included will be an underground connection to the existing police building and three levels of laboratory and office space.

    Jackson & Sons Heating & AC, Wayne Community College win award

    GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne County-based Jackson & Sons Heating and Air Conditioning has been named the business recipient of the prestigious 2011 Distinguished Partners In Excellence Award. Jackson & Sons joins co-recipient Wayne Community College in accepting an award given to only one business and one of the partnering 58 state community colleges annually.

    Given by the State Board of Community Colleges, the award recognizes an outstanding company or industry group for partnering with their local community college to improve workforce development and grow the local economy. In addition, groups are recognized for internally continuing the education of their own employees to render them more effective in the field.

    Way Cos., Girl Scouts celebrate partnership

    HOUSTON – The Way Companies and the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) celebrated their successful partnership with a $27,000 rebate check, an Energy Star certification and plaque presentation, and a green energy lesson for a troop of Girl Scout Cadettes (6th graders). GSSJC partnered with Way amid concerns about high utility bills, inefficient lighting systems and antiquated mechanical equipment. Way provided GSSJC with a program that allows the council to pay for the infrastructure upgrades through guaranteed energy savings.
