Do you believe in these 10 plumbing marketing myths?

BY MATT MICHEL

A myth is a false belief. Have you ever bought into a myth? Have you believed something you later learned was wrong? In our personal lives, discovering we've held a false belief can cost us pride. In business, it costs money. Below are some of the marketing myths that seem to infect our industry. Are you guilty of believing in any of the following?

1. I don't need no stinkin' marketing! Your business is either growing, stagnating or dying. To grow, you need to market. To stagnate, you don't. To die, you only need competitors to market when you don’t.

2. I can't afford marketing. Marketing isn't free. It requires time or money.

Oliver Heating, Cooling donates A/C to local church

MORTON, PA. — Oliver Heating, Cooling & Plumbing is giving back to its community through the Heat for the Holidays program. Recently, Oliver donated a new air conditioning system and volunteers helped install it for the Shorter AME church here.

“We have been a customer of Oliver a long time,” said George Dickerson, vice chairman of the church’s Stewardship Board. “They are a very good, efficient company. Nice people. Some of the members in our church have grandparents and parents of employees who work for Oliver. The Good Lord has blessed us through Oliver after we prayed what to do when our air conditioning system died. We had no money to replace it so the elders of our church decided to write a letter to Mr. Oliver and Bernie for help when they sent a poster about the Heat for the Holidays outreach program.”

Thermal Engineering LLC warms to condo snowmelt job

BY STEVE SPAULDING

TOOELE, UTAH — Summer is here, and with it the return of snowmelt season. The warmer months are the ideal time for installing snowmelt systems; ice and snow on the ground make it much more difficult to lay tubing, and the warmer temperatures mean lower demand on existing heating systems that may need to be shut down for some period as new systems are connected in.

Aron Frailey is the owner and chief mechanical engineer of Thermal Engineering LLC, headquartered in Tooele, Utah. He’s been specializing in snowmelt projects since before 2002.

“I graduated with an engineering degree and went to work for a consulting engineering firm in Salt Lake City,” Frailey said. “One of our clients got into radiant heating and commercial snow melt, and I took an interest in that.”
