Final corn, soybean summaries
Over the past 10 weeks, Corn & Soybean Digest magazine, with sponsorship from Bayer CropScience, has brought you the performance summaries of corn, soybean and silage data from the field. With this year's final issue, we present the final regional summaries for the FIRST Harvest corn plots. The data is listed by region below along with the site yield averages for that region.

As well, the final soybean regional summary data is also listed below, in case you missed it in the mid-November First Harvest e-newsletter. The 2008 Soybean Edition Supplement will be included as an insert inside select December issues of the magazine.

To review any of the full reports for corn, soybeans or silage with the listing of each hybrid visit www.firstseedtests.com. Oil and protein data has been added to the individual soybean reports. We thank Bayer CropScience for their sponsorship of this project.

To find out more about how the harvest went, listen to the audio reports posted on the Web site. Audio interviews with the FIRST farm managers were updated weekly on the Web site during the last seven weeks of harvest. Direct links are listed for the FIRST audio interviews, as well as the FIRST videos, which explain more about the FIRST Seed Testing program. Click here for VIDEO or here for AUDIO.

Corn growers value the proven crop protection provided by Poncho seed-applied insecticide. But now they can get more protection, equaling more yield with Poncho®
By applying more active ingredient to the seed, Poncho 500 improves early season seed and seedling protection from damage caused by wireworm, black cutworm and other early season insect pests. Current data shows Poncho 500 delivers on average 10 bu/A more yield than fungicide controls, and Poncho 500 uses the same coating as Poncho 250.

For more information on Poncho 500, visit this Web site.

“We don’t plant naked seed. There’s too much risk in planting untreated seed. You can’t grow a crop without a stand, and to do that you need a seed treatment,” says Ronnie Helms, crop consultant at G&H Associates, Stuttgart, Ark.

Trilex® 6000 Soybean System offers soybean growers like Helms a single solution to battle early season insect and disease pressures.

The Trilex 6000 Soybean System, with a powerful combination of six safeguards including insect and disease protection products, lets growers visually distinguish the benefits of having a seed treatment.

“With protection from both insects and disease, plants gain more vigor than they would with just a fungicide alone,” Helms says. “The early season controls with Trilex 6000 include protection from nibblers that can impact disease.”

To find out more about starting off your soybean seed with one complete system, visit this Web site; or, talk to your seed supplier or Bayer CropScience representative today.
