Code News Update
Big Sky Country Begins Enforcement
of 2008 NEC
According to a recent Code Alert issued on Sept. 15,
2010 by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA),
Montana began enforcement of the 2008 edition of the NEC on July 30.
With the exception of just a few minor amendments, the Code was adopted
in its entirety. The amendments dealt with the service equipment
location and approved cable options for mobile and manufactured homes,
the submission of wiring diagrams, and the need for smoke alarms in
buildings and structures.
Washington's Electrical Code Now
Under Revision
The Evergreen State has published a schedule for
revising its electrical code. The State of Washington, Electrical
Division, is now accepting proposals to revise the State Electrical
Code, but if you want to take part in this process, you’d better
hurry
up. The deadline for submissions is October 8.
All proposals must be submitted electronically. You can access an
electronic copy of the submission form via this web
page. All proposals must clearly identify original language as "new
text." Proposed revisions should include the relevant existing text and
should use the legislative format [i.e., Use underscore (or
underlining)
to denote wording to be inserted (e.g. inserted wording) and
strike-through to denote wording to be deleted (e.g. deleted wording)].
Proposals not submitted according to these instructions will be
rejected.
You may submit a proposal(s) by sending as an e-mail attachment to ElectricalWAC@lni.wa.gov.
