Electric Power Distribution Workshops
The Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), formerly University of Missouri-Rolla, in cooperation with Cooper Power Systems, offers a series of two- and three-day workshops on a broad range of topics related to electric power distribution. All courses feature highly polished workshop notes and PowerPoint presentations. These workshops are available for in-house or captive workshops.

This course covers components and nameplate data for circuit breakers equipped with thermal, magnetic, and solid-state trip devices. Perform a complete circuit breaker service: inspection, removal, disassembly, cleaning, tightening, reassembly, lubrication, and adjustment in lab. Read and interpret manufacturers' trip curves, including RMS types.

SF6 Circuit Breaker Maintenance
This course covers installation, maintenance, and overhaul procedures for SF6 interrupters and pneumatic operating mechanisms. Address hazards, handling and testing techniques for SF6 in compliance with ASTM, ANSI/IEEE and NETA standards. Perform manufacturer-required adjustments, operational checks, contact resistance, power factor, and hi-pot testing using actual system schematics in lab.

Solar 101: Introduction to Grid-Tied and Off-Grid Solutions
This two-day course focuses on solar system sizing and design issues. You'll learn about installing uni-solar photovoltaic laminates, choosing and installing inverters, system monitoring, solar module technology, marketing and selling solar systems, using financing as a selling tool, and placement criteria. Power Systems Modeling Essentials
This three-day, hands-on workshop teaches users how to build a power systems model, as well as perform studies for power flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and other engineering tasks. Students will learn basic Paladin DesignBase structure and features, be taught how to manage the tools, as well as organize a project and the project files. Through a special arrangement with IEEE, EDSA training courses qualify for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
