    Simple. Reliable. Accurate.
AEMC's Clamp-On Ground Resistance Tester Model 3731 provides direct reading of ground rod and grid resistance from 0.01 ohms to 1200 ohms. Operation is simple and fast; there is no need for leads, auxiliary rods or disconnecting the service under test. It measures leakage current flowing to ground or circulating in ground loops from 1mA to 30Arms. The large jaw (1.25") accommodates ground conductors up to 1000MCM. The Model 3731 includes both an alarm function and a memory function, which will store up to 99 field measurements. For more information visit www.aemc.com.

    NEMA's Primary Industrial Controls
Posts Gain in Second Quarter of 2005

NEMA's Primary Industrial Controls Index measured a 4.8% increase in sales of industrial control products and systems in the second quarter of 2005, a 4.6% increase from last year. In addition, the Primary Industrial Control and Adjustable Speed Drive Index posted a 5.4% increase during the second quarter, the second-highest reading in the index's history. NEMA predicts that as manufacturing activity continues to rebound, factory operating rates will continue to grow, but at a much slower rate.

NECA Standard Prescribes Installation for Glass Fiber-Optic Lighting
NECA 503-2005, "Standard for Installing Fiber Optic Lighting Systems," details how to install fiber-optic lighting systems. Known mostly as a conduit for digital information, fiber optics can also distribute light throughout an area from a central lighting source. NECA 503, the latest in the NEIS series, is available as a downloadable PDF on the NECA Web site by clicking on "Lighting."

IEEE Seeks Volunteers to Evaluate College Engineering Programs
The IEEE Educations Activities Board is recruiting volunteers to evaluate engineering and engineering technology programs at U.S. colleges. The evaluation will determine accreditation of the programs by the Engineering Accreditation Commission and the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. You may download applications at the engineering programs section or the engineering technology programs section of the IEEE Web site. To nominate someone as an evaluator, contact Carolyn Solimine, IEEE Educational Activities, at c.solimine@ieee.org.
