AEMC®’s Dual Display Clamp-on Meters Models 670 &
675 AEMC®’s Models 670 and 675 are True RMS clamp-on
meters that provide RMS measurements for today’s non-linear electrical
environments. These meters are designed to measure and display amps and
volts at the same time. They are also auto-ranging and provide the best
measurement range and resolution for troubleshooting. They are sized for
comfortable, one-handed operation. The tapered and hooked jaw design
facilitates maneuvering in crowded wiring and breaker panels, making it
easy to select conductors. Visit: www.aemc.com.

ABI Reaches Highest
Score Since 2007
After stepping back in October reversing into the
negative territory, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) rose more than
three points in November to reach its highest mark since December 2007.
As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI
reflects the approximate nine- to12-month lag time between architecture
billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects
(AIA), Washington, D.C., reported the November ABI score was 52.0, up
from a reading of 48.7 the previous month. This score reflects an
increase in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an
increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index was 61.4, down
slightly from a mark of 61.7 in October. To read more on this story,

Metro Areas Added
Construction Jobs Year-Over-Year in November
Construction employment either increased or remained
steady in a growing number of metropolitan areas — 120 of 337
— between November 2009 and November 2010, according to a new
analysis of federal employment data released today by the Associated
General Contractors of America (AGC), Arlington, Va. Association
officials say construction employment is improving slightly thanks in
large part to temporary federal funding for stimulus and military
construction. To read more on this story, visit EC&M's website.
NEMA Position
on SDoC Endorsed by OSHA
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) recently announced that it will continue to require third-party
certification via the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL)
program for electrical products used in American workplaces and refrain
from adopting Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC). OSHA's
decision endorses the position taken by Rosslyn, Va.-based National
Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in comments submitted to the
agency in January 2009.To read more on this story, visit

Building Energy
Management Systems Gains Momentum
The Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) market, a
growing segment of the larger building efficiency industry, is gaining
momentum as an alternative, cheaper means for end-users to implement
energy efficiency applications in commercial buildings, according to a
new report on BEMS from Pike Research, Boulder, Colo. Conceived out of
the market demand for a lighter, less-expensive and strictly
energy-related automation and management systems for commercial
buildings, the BEMS market includes both specialized and broad-based
solutions. Such solutions range from reactive energy efficiency
optimization software to predictive supply and demand side energy
management architectures. To read more on this story, visit
