Processing tomatoes wrap up; yields excellent
It was a decent year overall for processing tomatoes. "Preliminary yield is 41.2 tons per acre, which is the second highest ever," says Ross Siragusa, President of California Tomato Growers Association (CTGA). "Color and peel qualities were excellent, although some of the late fruit packed for export markets was below the normal standard."

Desert vegetable harvests in full swing
Produce harvests have begun in the desert and all estimates indicate production and quality are at or above normal, according to John Palumbo, Extension entomologist with the University of Arizona at Yuma. Growers are still planting, and will continue to do so through December.
