Whether departments call them patrol pumpers, grass rigs or any one of half a dozen other names, light brush trucks often can go where larger apparatus can't. People Apparatus Close Calls on the Web The Firefighter Close Calls Web site provides information about near misses and injuries resulting from a variety of incidents, including accidents involving fire apparatus and other emergency vehicles. Firefighter Dies When Apparatus Leaves Roadway A firefighter in North Carolina died when the apparatus he was driving left the roadway while en route to an early morning fire. Toyne Has New Dealer In South Carolina Palmetto Emergency Apparatus Inc. is the new dealer for Toyne Fire Apparatus in South Carolina. Apparatus Pierce Delivers First Contender Multi Cab
Pierce delivered the first Contender Multi Cab commercial pumper to Big Horn Fire District #4, which serves Big Horn County, Otto, Burlington and Emblem in Wyoming. The vehicle was financed in part by a Wyoming state grant program and will be placed into service in the western part of the state. E-ONE Announces Custom Chassis for 2007 E-ONE will offer its Cyclone II and Typhoon chassis for custom fire apparatus built in 2007. Sutphen Unveils New Web Site Sutphen has redesigned its Web site to present more information in an easy-to-view format. Freightliner Will Phase In 2007 Engines Freightliner plans to introduce specific 2007 diesel engines in its line of medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks starting in January. Recent Apparatus Deliveries Whenever a department writes the specifications for a new apparatus, part of the process should be to look at apparatus being delivered to other departments around the country.
