The new aerial is designed to produce a vehicle with a short overall length and travel height. American LaFrance to Celebrate 175th Anniversary American LaFrance plans to mark its 175th anniversary and the grand opening of its new headquarters in Summerville, S.C., during a celebration on Oct. 19–20. Crimson Fire Names New York Dealer Crimson Fire Apparatus named Hendrickson Fire Rescue Equipment on Long Island as one of its latest dealers in New York. Foster Debuts Compact Rescue Vehicle Foster Rescue introduced a compact rescue vehicle at Fire-Rescue International in Atlanta. The new unit measure less than five feet wide and six feet tall, yet carries a variety of fire and rescue equipment. Did You Know? Vehicle Batteries Can Explode Did you know that vehicle batteries can explode? All vehicle batteries produce hydrogen gas, which is highly explosive (remember the Hindenburg disaster?). Even maintenance-free batteries have vents that allow the gas to escape.
