Smeal Delivers Foam Pumper to Charlotte

The Charlotte (N.C.) Fire Department now runs a Smeal pumper equipped with a foam system and large water and foam concentrate tank to handle flammable liquid fires.

Pierce Launches Redesigned Web Site
Pierce Manufacturing Inc. launched a newly designed corporate Web site. The new site showcases all of the Pierce products, including the recently launched Velocity and Impel chassis.


E-ONE Delivers First HP 100 Platform
Columbus (Ga.) Fire and EMS took delivery of the first E-ONE HP 100 aerial platform, just five months after the new 100-foot aerial design debuted at the 2007 Fire Department Instructors Conference.


NFPA Issues Driver Training Standard
NFPA 1451, Fire Service Vehicle Operation Training Program, is now available. The new standard was issued in 2007.


Ferrara Gets Contract from Columbus
Ferrara Fire Apparatus Inc. has been awarded orders for the first apparatus in a three-year custom-pumper contract by the Columbus (Ohio) Division of Fire.

Once-a-Year Maintenance is Not Enough
NFPA 1911, Inspection, Maintenance, Testing and Retirement of In-Service Automotive Fire Apparatus, specifies the types and frequencies of work to be performed. Many people believe the standard simply requires that this work be performed annually, but that might not be enough.
