Sova Named Florida EVT of the Year
Equipment maintenance specialist Tom Sova of Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services was selected as the Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year by the Florida Association of EVTs. The award was announced at Fire Rescue East in Jacksonville.


Two Die After Auto Hits Ambulance
A fire captain in Indiana was killed when another vehicle struck an ambulance at the scene of a motor-vehicle accident.


Apparatus Driver Killed When Engine Rolls
A fire captain in Colorado was killed when the engine he was driving left the road and rolled over.

Wolverine Buys Elite Fire Apparatus Assets
Wolverine Fire Apparatus of Union City, Mich., purchased the assets of Elite Fire Apparatus of Tilleda, Wis., and announced that it will build Wolverine fire and rescue vehicles in the former Elite plant.

Detroit Diesel Plans to Leave Fire Market
Detroit Diesel announced that it plans to stop selling engines and other products to manufacturers in the fire truck market starting in 2010.


Kussmaul Releases High-Power Load Manager
Kussmaul Electronics Co. now offers an electrical load manager that sheds up to a 75-amp load when the vehicle battery voltage drops. A special feature prevents load-shedding while the starter is cranking the engine.
