For transfer distances of about 2,500 feet or more, water tender/tanker shuttles are commonly used. For shorter distances, large-diameter hose may be able to provide more water with less personnel. Pierce Names New Dealer in Canada Darch Fire Inc., located between London, Toronto and Hamilton in Ayr, Ontario, has assumed sales and service responsibility for the province of Ontario for Pierce and Contender by Pierce fire apparatus. Rosenbauer Adds Dealer in New Jersey Rosenbauer America announced the appointment of Major Firefighting Technology of Kenvil, N.J., as the company's dealer for New Jersey, New York City and Long Island. Oklahoma Firefighters Hurt When Engine Rolls Two firefighters in Oklahoma received minor injuries when an apparatus left the pavement and rolled on its side during an early morning rain storm. Apparatus News Federal Signal May Sell E-One E-ONE's parent company Federal Signal Corp. announced it is having discussions with prospective buyers with the intention of selling the Florida-based fire apparatus manufacturer. What are they specifying? Why did they select a particular chassis or component? How do they feel about their choices now that the apparatus are in service? From a modest start making brass hose couplings in 1918, the company now designs and manufactures a wide range of products including nozzles, monitors, lights, reels and more. Shop News E-ONE Offers Aerial Maintenance Classes E-ONE has scheduled back-to-back aerial maintenance classes for technicians who want to receive comprehensive factory training. Each class is five days long with a weekend in between and may be taken separately or together. Ingersoll-Rand Releases Tool Catalog Ingersoll-Rand, manufacturer of a wide range of products, released a new catalog of vehicle tools and equipment. Southwest EVT Conference Breaks Records The ninth annual Southwest EVT Conference in March set both attendance and certification testing records. More than 150 attendees made it the largest conference to date and more than 120 people took a total of 189 EVTCC exams during the event. Flammable Vapors Can Cause Engine Damage Did you know that flammable vapors in the air can cause diesel engines to potentially overspeed and damage themselves under idle or lightly loaded conditions? Shutting the engine off won’t help — as long as the vapors are drawn into the air intake, the engine could keep running.
