LTL hard-hit by recession

The freight market will not recover until the end of the year at the earliest, with LTL carriers in the most dire straits because of overcapacity and weaker demand, according to Longbow Research analyst Lee Klaskow.

Vantage rolls out electric light-duties
Vantage Vehicle International, Inc. has announced the release of its all-electric mini-vehicle utility truck and passenger and cargo van line. The trucks are powered by lead-acid batteries that the company said charge on standard house current in four to six hours for a range of up to 60 miles.

The American Trucking Assns. (ATA) has named the captains of the 2009-2010 America’s Road Team, a group of 18 drivers who will spend the next two years representing the trucking industry by delivering safety tips to the motoring public.
