LaHood outlines goals at hearing

Ray LaHood (R-IL), Secretary-Designate of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, gave a brief outline of what his priorities would be at his confirmation hearing yesterday before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. The nomination was then passed along to the full Senate for confirmation.

CARB reefer rule
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has received a waiver from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that will allow it to enforce regulations requiring all Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) operating in the state to have emission control technology installed that is less than seven years old.

Maverick will use EBE recruiting software
Maverick Transportation has licensed EBE Technologies’ SHIPS driver recruiting software, designed to streamline the company’s hiring process. According to EBE, the software manages the complete hiring cycle, applying qualification rules against applications while automating and auditing the verification process through third parties such as USIS, previous employers and wellness clinics.

Wabco supplies automated transmission to Chinese OEM

 Wabco Holdings has begun supplying its modular automated manual transmission (AMT) system to China National Heavy Truck Corporation (CNHTC), the country’s largest producer of heavy-duty trucks. CNHTC is the first OEM to adopt the modular AMT system in volume production.
