Class
8 sales nose-dive

Preliminary data shows that Class 8 sales continued their
significant slump in January, with total net orders for all major North
American OEMs at 7,608 units, down 12% from December 2008, according to
numbers compiled by FTR Associates.

Peterbilt
closes Madison plant
Peterbilt Motor Co. is closing its Madison, TN factory until market
conditions improve, most likely not until at least the end of 2009. All
functions formerly done at the Madison facility have moved to
Peterbilt’s Denton, TX plant.
