For New Jersey officials,
recycling project was no token gesture
When New Jersey's Garden State Parkway began migrating away from a
token-based payment system to the transponder-based E-ZPass, state
officials knew that at some point they would have to do something with
the tokens. Because the tokens still are accepted for transit along the
parkway's 173 miles of roadways, they have value for motorists. But the
tokens have not been sold since 2001; instead, the state has housed the
tokens in secure storage facilities.

The Shingle-Ply Roofing System From
Duro-Last®
Duro-Last Roofing's Shingle-Ply system delivers the perfect combination
of watertight integrity and aesthetics. It's ideal for government
facilities where appearance is important, but conventional shingles are
not practical because the roof may not provide good water runoff or has
other limitations. The Shingle-Ply membrane provides a shingle look and
the watertight performance and durability of a thermoplastic, single-ply
roofing system.
Our Shingle-Ply product is made from the same strong membrane as the
Duro-Last roofing system, a proven performer since 1978. The shingle
design is printed onto the membrane, then a special polymer coating is
applied to help protect the finish from marring, fading, and dirt
accumulation.
Shingle-Ply rolls are delivered to the job site ready to be unrolled,
positioned, and installed by an authorized Duro-Last contractor. Each
piece is aligned with the installed adjacent piece and mechanically
attached to the roof deck. Overlapping edges are heat-welded together,
forming a watertight, monolithic covering.
Flashings for penetrations and other transition areas are
precision-fabricated in a Duro-Last facility; there is no on-site
assembly of these components. The Shingle-Ply system is complete, with
all fasteners, flashings, edge details, and other materials delivered to
the job site. www.duro-last.com

Ford fuel-cell vehicle exceeding
expectations in testing
By Michael Keating
Government fleets in California, Florida, Michigan, Canada, Germany
and Iceland have test-driven Ford Motor Co.'s fleet of 30 hydrogen
fuel-cell electric vehicles over the past three years, and after
accumulating 865,000 real-world miles in the test cars, Ford's hydrogen
research engineers say the vehicles have exceeded expectations.

Simpler By Design, Better By Intent – The
AccuBrine™ Automated Brine Maker.
Making your own brine has never been easier or more economical thanks to
the AccuBrine™ Automated Brine Maker from Cargill Deicing
Technology. With it, you can make brine for just pennies a gallon.
AccuBrine takes the time, guesswork and human error out of the brine
making equation. Just enter your specifications for salinity into the
Programmable Logic Control unit, and allow AccuBrine to do the rest.
Even better, creating custom brine hot mixes with AccuBrine is just as
easy. The large, corrosion proof fiberglass AccuBrine salt tank holds 5
yards of salt at a time, with room for 1 yard of sediment. And thanks to
an ingenuous plumbing system, it only takes 15 minutes to flush any
internal sediment away. Whether you intend to create brine on demand or
stockpile for the season, AccuBrine is the foolproof, affordable
automated brine making solution. www.accubrine.com
