Adept Technology will provide high-speed vision-guided robot
systems for a leading consumer electronics manufacturer. The
manufacturer will use the systems for precision handling and assembly
operations. The contract, which is worth $2.5 million, calls for the
systems to be installed in Asia.

Through a combination of its monochrome laser printing
devices and radio frequency dentification (RFID) ultra high frequency
(UHF) technology, Lexmark International, Inc. is introducing
enhancements to its RFID solution, providing an alternative to track and
access assets and information with real-time visibility. Lexmark was the
first printer manufacturer to develop and bring to market a device that
combines RFID technology with laser printing, the company
says.

In its Annual Review of Global Container Terminal Operators
2009, Drewry Shipping Consultants says 2008 was a turning point for the
container terminal operators. The final quarter of the year saw
unprecedented volume declines which Drewry says are set to worsen in
2009, leaving the industry facing its toughest trading conditions since
the inception of containerization in the 1960s.
