YRC/Teamster Agreement Moves Ahead
Calling it significant progress, YRC Worldwide (YRCW) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) negotiating team announced some details of their agreement on contract terms going forward. Two critical provisions are a 5% incremental wage reduction and and 18-month cessation of pension payments.

Despite the world's largest radio frequency identification (RFID) project being completed, the global RFID market is rising 5% this year to $5.56 billion, says IDTechEx.

US Airline Losses Continue
"The combination of rising non-fuel costs and a significant deterioration in passenger revenue in the first quarter proved too great to offset the year-over-year plunge in fuel prices," said John Heimlich, chief economist for the US-based Air Transport Association (ATA). "Consequently, airlines remain focused on seeking every feasible opportunity to realize cost savings and generate new streams of revenue."
