Pneus flash: Clean air boosts
manufacturing uptime
|
We’d like to offer two words of wisdom on keeping your pneumatic
components running smoothly: Clean air. Start with fresh air and
you’ll avoid unnecessary wear and tear, not to mention dreaded
downtime. For more details on achieving a clean and consistent air
supply, check out the informative articles included here. Besides air
preparation basics, you can also learn a few quick and useful tips on
getting more oomph from your cylinders by using a booster, and read
about some cool new products including direct-acting pneumatic valves
and heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders.

How air preparation can keep your shop running smoothly.
When you talk about pneumatics, it all starts with air. All too often
shop air is dirty, under-lubricated and provides inconsistent pressure.
Without a clean, consistent supply of air, pneumatic components are
prone to unnecessary wear and tear, and eventually failure. And as any
engineer knows, when even a single assembly station goes down, the
entire manufacturing plant can be disrupted. Manufacturers are
constantly looking for ways to improve the reliability of their assembly
lines, and one important aspect of this is air preparation.

Try the "T4" Heavy Duty Thruster from
Bimba
Bimba
Manufacturing now offers the heavy duty "T4" Thruster, available in bore
sizes 2" and larger. This new thruster offers the smooth actuation of
the "T" series Thrusters, while delivering twice the static
load-carrying capability.
A black anodized body and precision re-circulating ball bearings give
the T4 ultra smooth actuation. At the same time, four guide shafts,
instead of the typical two, double the load-carrying capacity and reduce
deflection.

We've all been there — you need more force from a cylinder, but
don’t have the time or money to redesign and/or tear down your
machine. So, what are your options? One quick fix to explore is a
booster. A booster provides additional power to an existing
under-performing application.
There are three common situations where extra force is required, and how
the addition of a booster can provide the extra power needed.
- You have inadequate plant air pressure
- You have a heavy-duty application that requires additional
force
- You need to compensate for pressure loss

Bimba announced today a new addition to their Filter, Regulator and
Lubricator (FRL) line of products and accessories, the Medium 60 Series.
The Medium 60 Series, which supports port sizes of 1/2 NPT and 3/4 NPT,
expands Bimba’s existing Air Preparation lines to further complete
their comprehensive offering of FRL products and accessories. This
product line expansion enables Bimba to support a broad range of port
sizes from 1/8 NPT through 1-1/2 NPT.
Similar to Bimba’s 10, 20 and 70 Series, the new Medium 60 can be
ordered with same-day shipping as individually stocked components or as
custom-ordered pre-assembled systems, shipped in two days.
“We are very excited to complete our line of Air Preparation Products
with the new addition of models with 3/4 – NPT ports,” said Jerry
Scherzinger, Bimba’s Air Preparation Product Manager. “A complete
FRL offering coupled with our industry leading service capabilities will
result in exciting opportunities for us in this market.”
Currently the new 60 Series catalog is available in electronic format on
the Bimba website.

Mead Fluid Dynamics, a Bimba Company, announced today, the arrival
of the newest addition to the patented Isonic ® valve line, the V2
series. The new V2 is a 2-and 3-way solenoid-operated, direct-acting
pneumatic valve. With flow in the range of 0.01 to 0.05 Cv, the V2 is
available with multiple voltage and electrical connection options in
both normally-closed and normally-open styles.
At the heart of the V2 is the award-winning Isonic ® design, which
enables flow channels to be molded directly into polymer body sections.
This eliminates the abrupt air path changes associated with
cross-drilled machining in traditional valves. The resultant ribbon-like
flow paths create near laminar flow with little energy/pressure drop
through the valve. Built-in, push-to-connect collets allow for simple
tube and manifold connections in seconds.
To view the V2 valve system in action, including “how it works,” and
the snap-on/quick-release manifold, visit bimba.com/MeadV2.

TRD Manufacturing, a Bimba Company, today announced the introduction
of their new HH Series Cylinders, which feature an innovative design to
deliver more reliability in heavy-duty industrial hydraulic
operations.
All HH Series models come in bore sizes 1.50”, 2”, 2.50”, 3.25”,
4”, 5”, 6” and 8”. Requests are made-to-order, with standard and
custom options available. Cylinders usually ship in two to three days
and most requests are answered the day they are received.
As part of the HH series, TRD offers a complete line of hydraulic Rod
Locks. Cutting-edge floating rod bushing technology ensures that these
rod locks achieve their high rated holding force and stay correctly
aligned. This reduces cylinder drag, wear and erratic operation, thereby
ultimately improving performance, consistency and results.
Each rod lock model is available in three different holding forces,
depending on the release pressure. And, with the ability to handle up to
3,000 PSI, these precision-machined cylinders can be used on most
heavy-duty applications.
Other standard features include a heavy-duty rod wiper, seals, wear
band, chrome plated I.D tube and more. Rod locks, stop tubes, center
supports, stainless steel piston rods and high impact pistons are also
available as performance options. Accessories include clevis, pins,
mounts and alignment couplers up to a 5” thread size.
