Exclusive Zurich CEO Rallies His Troops Baltimore-based CEO of Zurich North America--Small Business Ray Thomas takes a sales-oriented approach to his company's relationship with its independent agents. So every other year he hits the road with his 45-city Rally Tour. The event is so full of hoopla and content that it works to both motivate and educate. In exclusive interviews with Thomas and other Zurich execs and clients, Alison Hall takes readers of Insurance Conference Planner behind the scenes of this hugely successful program. "I would emphasize that these events are uncharacteristic of the property/casualty industry," says Thomas. To find out more, click here. Also in ICP March/April:

The CEIR response, "Space Available... the Rest of the Story," reveals several discrepancies and inaccuracies in the Brookings Institution report and offers data and analysis to support and defend the exhibition industry. CEIR also compiled a brief point/counterpoint document for quick reference. Douglas L. Ducate, president and CEO of CEIR, said that the Brookings study overlooked a key source of information--CEIR's own. "His clarion call for national data from a nonprofit organization has only existed for 28 years," says Ducate. The CEIR response and the point/counterpoint can be found on CEIR's Web site at at www.ceir.org. When you pay for your Starwood meeting with your American Express® Card Learn More On the Record The Yellow Brick Road, Redux By Regina Baraban, Editor, Insurance Conference Planner For more than 20 years, I lived in a tiny New York City apartment on the Upper West Side, half a block from Central Park. The park kept me sane. A stroll, jog, or visit to the swing set were antidotes for loneliness, boredom, frustration, sadness--whatever the emotion, time in the park made it feel better. As well, the park was where I got together with friends for countless celebrations and special events that ranged from a stupendous performance of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" by the New York Philharmonic, to an unannounced Bruce Springsteen concert during the No Nukes Rally of 1982. So, when I heard that the park was going to be decked out by a massive but temporary art installation known as "The Gates" for 16 days in February, I knew I had to be there. What can we learn from "The Gates" that is relevant to the business of planning meetings and events? Click here to find out.
