Welcome back to the city that never sleeps! New York City is once again
hosting the AES Convention (October 9 to 12, 2009). It’s been two
years since audio pros trampled through the streets of N.Y,, attending
the convention, hailing a taxi, dining at a great restaurant or taking
in the sights.
Each year, we offer our "AES Audio Products Guide," where you can
find the latest products that will be debuting—or showcased—at the
show. Make sure you bookmark this page during the show for late-breaking
news through our blog, updated videos of product demos, nightly
newsletters and much more!

Calrec Artemis The Artemis console with routing and
processing power is based on the company's Apollo platform introduced at
the NAB show this year and uses Bluefin2 for processing and Hydra2 for
routing. Bluefin2, the next generation of Calrec's trademark Bluefin
high-density signal processing platform, lets Artemis provide
substantial resources at multiple sample rates. Running at 48 kHz,
Bluefin2 gives Artemis up to 640 channel processing paths, 128 program
buses, 64 IFB/track outputs and 32 auxiliaries. Artemis also includes a
second compressor/limiter in each channel, more than 70 minutes of
assignable delay and three independent APFL systems for multiple
operator use. Find out more about the Calrec Artemis. Booth

wireless devices, ensuring that communications go off without a hitch in
even the most crowded RF environments. Ideal for the rental and staging
market, as well as live performance applications, it can be operated
indoors and outdoors. Find out more information about Tempest 2400.

mic preamp, the DRS8, is a solid-state Class-A discrete model. Each
channel has its own dedicated level control, -30dB pad, phantom power,
phase reverse, highpass filter and mute buttons. The unit has an
8-channel monitoring output facility so all eight channels can be sent
directly to a monitor controller or a patchbay, as well as having
individual channel outputs. Find out more information about the DS48. Booth

Qualis Audio Sentinel Qualis Audio announced the digital
input version of Sentinel, a network based automated surround sound
monitor that performs unattended monitoring of surround program
material. Sentinel directly assesses stereo and mono compatibility of a
surround mix, and it performs stereo and mono downmixes internally and
compares these to the original surround mix. If content present in the
surround mix is missing from either the stereo or mono mixes, it flags a
warning or error. Dr. Richard Cabot, president and CTO of Qualis Audio,
will be presenting a technical paper on this technology at the N.Y. AES
Convention titled “Automated Assessment of Surround Sound.” Find out more
information about Sentinel and the technical paper. Booth #743
