iZ Technology has released Version 3.38 software for its RADAR hard disk recording systems. The upgrade offers 18 new features and more than 140 improvements. The new version promises to simplify the FTP file-transfer process by enabling transfers directly from the Session Controller, allowing users to export, import, backup and restore data from RADAR to a network drive. SM Pro Audio ADDA 192-S
SM Pro Audio is now shipping the ADDA 192-S ($499) 2-channel, 24-bit/192kHz AD/DA converter. The front panel provides two combo connectors for mic or line-level sources. The mic inputs include preamps with switchable 48-volt phantom power and -20dB pad. The ADDA 192-S includes internal analog circuitry, as well as optical and coaxial S/PDIF I/O. The unit is designed to function with a low degree of jitter and to operate from internal or external sync via S/PDIF. MORE

EdgeSounds has released its Native Russian Vol. 1 ($79.95) sound library for the Akai S3000 format. Native Russian Vol. 1 presents a collection of musical instruments that are typically found in folkloric Russian music. Eventide announced Version 5.2 software for its H8000FW digital effects processor. Version 5.2 adds more than 100 new programs, increasing the number of programs included in the H8000FW to 1,800. Operating under Wow and Flutter West's Gerald Brunskill Music (GBM) division, Jerry Brunskill wrote and scored the original music for Deep Winter. Members of Las Vegas--based metal band Torture Unit recently visited Odds on Recording in Henderson, Nev., which is outfitted with an SSL XL9000 K Series SuperAnalogue console, to record a three-song demo. Lectrosonics Venue Wireless System Used in 'Bobby'
Production sound mixer Coleman Metts (pictured) used a Lectrosonics Venue wireless system to capture audio in one particularly challenging scene in the movie Bobby, an MGM/Weinstein Company film that chronicles the events of the June 6, 1968, assassination of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Bobby was written and directed by Emilio Estevez, and stars Martin Sheen, Helen Hunt, Anthony Hopkins, William H. Macy and others. MORE

September Sessions at Avatar Studio
Avatar Studios in New York City hosted several recording, mixing and mastering sessions during September. The Chris Potter Tentet recorded a new release for the Verve label in Avatar's Studio A, which is equipped with a Neve 8068 console. Potter's sessions were produced by Dave Holland, with James Farber engineering and Brian Montgomery assisting. Dream Theater also recorded a self-produced album in Studio A with engineer Paul Northfield and assistant engineer Chad Lupo. MORE
