Spectrasonics has released a series of four new expansion libraries called S.A.G.E. Xpanders to enhance the variety of choices for its recently released Stylus RMX virtual groove instrument. The four Groove Control-activated Xpanders are based on the company's Backbeat, Retro Funk, Liquid Grooves and Metamorphosis collections. Yamaha Corporation has reached a basic agreement to acquire 100 percent of the common stock of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, a division of Pinnacle Systems Inc. On the Transmigration of Souls Nominated for Grammy
On the Transmigration of Souls (Nonesuch), an orchestral work by composer John Adams, has been nominated for the Best Classical Album of 2004 Grammy Award. Commissioned by the New York Philharmonic and Lincoln Center, the piece was created as a tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center. MORE

Producer and engineer Patrik Majer installed a Solid State Logic AWS 900 in his Berlin-based studio, Freudenhaus Studio. "The AWS 900 is a marvelous piece of equipment, very sophisticated and a great idea by the people at SSL," Majer says. "I was already familiar with SSL consoles, so getting to grips with the AWS 900 was really very easy.
