NEW PRODUCTS
WorxAudio X1M-P Line Array
The new X1M-P ($4,650) is a two-way, high-efficiency, ultra-compact line array loudspeaker system engineered for use as either a front-fill, stage monitor or choir monitor system. This loudspeaker incorporates a medium-format, 1-inch exit compression driver coupled to a stabilized proprietary FlatWave™ Former (wave-shaping device) that delivers clear but penetrating high frequencies over a predictable and controlled coverage area. Dual 8-inch neo drivers coupled to the Acoustic Intergrading Module (A.I.M.™) minimize cone filtering throughout the entire operating range and provide a rich, fully balanced sound with a frequency range that spans from 50 to 18k Hz.

The loudspeaker ships with rigging hardware designed to enable mounting of the enclosure on the top or bottom with the optionally available Chief CMA 395 Series angle bracket. With this mounting hardware, the X1M-P can readily be positioned atop a pole. The loudspeaker enclosure is constructed from sturdy multi-ply Baltic Birch and is heavily braced for cabinet rigidity. Protecting the enclosure is a multi-layered, two-part polyurea ProTex™ finish, available in black or white. A 16-gauge, perforated, cloth-backed, powder-coated steel grille with a high-transmission ratio protects the transducer complement. Find out more information about the X1M-P, part of the TrueLine Series.

HOW THEY DO IT
Front-Of-House Engineer Rob 'Cubby' Colby
R. Kelly front-of-house engineer Rob "Cubby" Colby on setting up a DiGiCo D5 board using the DiGiCo RCE offline prior to rehearsals
It’s a very straightforward, live show. I like the R&B/funk attitude of the music, and it’s always been something I’ve enjoyed to mix. Robert [R. Kelly] is very involved in the production from the programming to the producing; it’s very clean-sounding audio and the band is extraordinarily good. Using the offline D5 editor, I was able to build all of my VCA, effects, label all my inputs and essentially turn everything on before I got there. That way, you’re off to a more comfortable start, at least for me. I’m more prepared and I know where everything is. It doesn't take two to three days of production rehearsals to figure out the how you would want to setup the layer/banks of the console because I’ve already done it prior to arriving for rehearsals.
AUDIO IN THE NEWS
Improvements Set for Stadium's Concert Acoustics
Officials plan to spend about $200,000 at Lucas Oil Stadium to help improve the sound quality for an upcoming concert by country music star Kenny Chesney. Sound problems marred Chesney’s 2008 show at the downtown Indianapolis stadium, the only concert that’s been put on there since it opened last summer. Read more of this article.

U2 360 Tour Presented by Blackberry
"We've got a space station designed by Gaudi," Bono told the rapturous 90,000 capacity crowd. The band opened the show with "Breathe," a track from their latest No 1 album No Line On The Horizon and went on to dedicate "Angel Of Harlem" - originally inspired by Billie Holiday - to the late Michael Jackson. The 360 Tour features a round stage positioned on the stadium floor with the band surrounded by their audience, the natural progression of their previous tours. By elevating the sound and lighting equipment, the walls that traditionally obscure performers from their audience are removed. This has also allowed greater capacity and a lower general ticket price. Read more of this article.
