Inter-M PX-0288 Audio Matrix Mixer
Inter-M Americas' new PX-0288 audio matrix mixer allows local audio
sources to be routed in any combination to eight zones using either
local or remote control. Built for use in multi-zone systems like those
found in hotels, airports, casinos, hospitals, conference centers and
restaurants, the flexible device receives ancillary support from a pair
of dedicated remote controls and a remote microphone station.

RCF SpA PR4092 Preamplifier
RCF SpA's RCF PR 4092 preamplifier is ideal for paging and music
applications in P.A. systems. The PR4902 has nine inputs and two
outputs. Each of the inputs can be sent either to output A only, to
output B only or to both A and B. In this way, PR 4092 can also be used
as a double preamplifier: The A bus can be dedicated to paging, while
the B bus can be used for background music programs. Input 1 has overall
priority (voice or contact activated) and can be used for emergency
paging; inputs 2 and 3 can be set with priority on inputs 4 to 9. MORE

wild, reality TV ride. Matrix Sound (Johannesburg, South Africa) was
awarded the sound supply contract; owner Trevor Peters was named sound
designer.

HEI, Shure Offer Free Screenings at Winter NAMM 2005
The House Ear Institute (HEI) and Shure Incorporated partnered to
provide free hearing screenings to attendees and exhibitors at the 2005
NAMM Winter Show at the Anaheim Convention Center (January 20 to 23,
2005). The free hearing screenings will be available in booth #1196 in
Hall E between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January
20, through Saturday, January 22, and 9:30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Sunday,
January 23. A certified health technician will conduct the screenings
based on the regulatory guidelines established by OSHA, and House Ear
Institute personnel will provide hearing health education and resources.

U.S. Patent Office Allows Meyer Sound MAPP Online Method
Claim
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed the claims of
a patent application filed by Meyer Sound pertaining to the company's
MAPP Online acoustical prediction software. The patent describes a
method of providing acoustical response predictions for a modeled
loudspeaker system over a communications network. In the case of MAPP
Online, an Internet-enabled client-server system lets modeling software
running on a server at Meyer Sound's headquarters (Berkeley, Calif.)
provide the computational back end to GUI software running on the user's
local computer. Allowance of the claims is a significant step preceding
the award of a patent. The patent, when issued, will be the 35th U.S. or
international patent issued to Meyer Sound since its founding in 1979.

Bang on a Can Unleashes "Sonic Assault" With Lost
Objects
An ambitious work of music theater, Bang on a Can's Lost Objects,
performed recently at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, fused an eclectic
array of musical ensembles including a 30-piece baroque orchestra, a
rock band and three operatic singers. The show's front-of-house
engineer, Jody Elff, had to make sure the voices of the show's three
lead singers could be heard over the "sonic assault" of the show's
musical ensembles. DPA's 4088 miniature cardioid headband microphones
helped him accomplish the task. MORE
Live In Las Vegas With QSC
Bad weather couldn't keep the QSC crew from having fun and making sure
crowds were entertained at ET Live, one of the events at ET/LDI
tradeshow, which took place in Las Vegas in late October. ET Live, a
multistage musical showcase designed to illustrate how various types of
concert equipment work together in a live setting, featured many live

Copenhagen Opera House's Unique
Studer Vista 8

Studer created a unique version of its Vista 8 digital mixing console
for installation in the new Copenhagen Opera House, which will open with
a Royal Command Performance on January 15, and to the public on January
26, 2005. The console was received by the state of Denmark at a formal
ceremony in October. The custom-built Vista provides two movable
front-of-house control surfaces, connected to each other and to the
control room by fiber-optic cable, which can be freely positioned
anywhere in the theater, from the control room to the auditorium. MORE
Canada's Jack Singer Concert Hall Upgrades With Lake
Technology
The Jack Singer Concert Hall, located at the Epcor Centre for the
Performing Arts (Calgary, Canada) and one of the most acoustically
acclaimed halls in North America, has installed five Lake Contour
Digital speaker processors. The five Lake Contours, packaged with a SIA
SmaartLive interface and wireless tablet PC by local Lake Technology
dealer Allstar Show Industries, are part of the first major renovation
of the sound system at the venue since it first opened in 1985. MORE
Victory Church Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary With Aviom
Install
Victory Church (Oklahoma City) recently added to its existing space and
revamped its older sound system with new equipment to accommodate a rise
in attendance. Aviom's Personal Monitor Mixing System was specified as
one of the major new pieces of audio equipment to be installed in the
new sanctuary.

Pro Sound Inc. Installs Sound Physics Labs Speakers in Miami
Theater
Miami's Manuel Artime Community Theater is a city-owned facility and
historic building on the city's west side that once served as a church.
The location regularly hosts a far-flung array of concerts, corporate
events, plays and religious worship gatherings. MORE
Turbosound Takes Off at Florida-Based First Baptist Church
At First Baptist Church in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla,, All Pro Sound
(Pensicola, Fla.) performed a re-installation, using Turbosound
loudspeakers to get the sound right. "We knew there were some issues
from the beginning, especially due to speaker placement," Jim Stenson,
senior designer with All Pro Sound, says. "It got more frustrating for
the church over time because a big part of the congregation couldn't
hear or understand what was being said." MORE

Xtreme Audio Visual (Las Vegas) was recently commissioned to design and
install a complete audio/visual package for Sky Nightclub. The main club
is split into two rooms: Daylight, the main dance area, and the Sunset
