Dry freight drivers may need tank truck endorsement

Some dry freight drivers may be discovering that they are considered tank truck drivers by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This means they could be cited during roadside inspections if they don’t have a tank truck endorsement with their commercial driver license.

Obama praised for supporting natural gas as transport fuel

Responding to President Obama’s January 26 announcement of a four-point plan to aggressively promote natural gas as a vehicle fuel, Richard Kolodziej, president of NGVAmerica, said: This is progress. Economic factors highly favor trucking shift to natural gas

When asked during World LNG Fuels 2012 what single factor could do the most to spur use of natural gas by the trucking industry, one participant had this to say: “Give us 20,000 CNG (compressed natural gas)/LNG (liquefied natural gas) filling stations overnight across the United States.” What that is not likely to happen, progress is being made at a very rapid rate, according to other participants in the two-day conference presented January 25-26 in Houston TX by Zeus Intelligence.

Diesel price up slightly
Diesel fuel’s national average price increased 0.2 cents to $3.85 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.
Diesel is now 41.2 cents above the same week in 2010.
New England had the biggest increase (1.1 cents), followed by the Central Atlantic (1.0).
