Cabela's Sells Off Wild Wings Unit

Outdoor sporting goods and apparel merchant Cabela's has sold its wildlife-art division, Wild Wings, to RDE Acquisition Co. The move is part of Cabella's strategy to focus on its core business.

Jockey Celebrates National Adoption Month

November is National Adoption Month, and apparel manufacturer/marketer Jockey International is showing its support by donating 1% of all Jockey catalog and e-commerce sales for the month to the Debra Steigerwaldt Waller Foundation for Adoption, an organization that funds services for adoptive children and families.

Forrester Expecting Online Holiday Sales to Increase 8%

While overall retail sales are expected to remain flat or down slightly this holiday shopping season, Forrester Research predicts online retail sales in the U.S. will reach $44.7 billion. That’s an 8% increase over the 2008 holiday shopping season, which Forrester defines as November and December.

Revenue Down at United Stationers

Third-quarter sales for office supplies merchant United Stationers declined 6.8%, to $1.25 billion, compared to $1.34 billion last year. Net income rose a little more than 1%, to $33.5 million, from $33.1 million last year.

Sales Fall 17% at Office Depot

Sales for Office Depot fell 17%, to $3 billion, for the third quarter ended Sept. 26. The company reported a net loss of $413 million, compared to net loss of $7 million for the same period in 2008.

Revenue, Net Income Down 9% for PC Connection

Third-quarter sales at computers marketer PC Connection decreased 8.7%, to $403.1 million, down from $441.4 million for the same period last year. For the period ended Sept. 30, net income dropped 9.4%, to $2.9 million, compared to net income of $3.2 million last year.
