Bright Future for
Nano
Nano Manufacturing Markets represents an area of higher growth
compared to other equipment and materials markets, according to Risto
Puhakka, president of VLSI Research Inc. Speaking at SEMI's Industry
Strategy Symposium, Puhakka said he saw, from 2003 to 2013, the market
for PV cells increasing 39.6%, displays 9.7%, semiconductors 7.5% and
hard disk 7.1%. He said the potential for Nano Manufacturing equipment
is about $100B per year, specifically noting growth in optical disks,
MEMS, data storage, PV, display and semiconductor equipment.

Graphic Symbols for Arc Welding and
Cutting Apparatus
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has
published EW 4-2009, the first new edition in 15 years. This standard
provides manufacturers and users of arc welding and cutting equipment
with a system for the development and use of graphic symbols for use on
their equipment. It accommodates non-English speaking and functionally
illiterate workers in the U.S. In addition, globalization of the welding
and cutting industry has also expanded, making it necessary for
U.S.-based manufacturers to design and mark their products in a way that
is more easily understood by a more linguistically and culturally
diverse customer base. As a result, the new edition of EW 4 contains
all pertinent graphic symbols recognized by IEC TC 26, the international
standards committee for electric welding and allied processes.

Power Entry Module for PCB Mounting
SANTA ROSA, CA: Schurter is pleased to announce its latest power
entry module series DA22, with built-in overload protection, maximum
high power density and outstanding EMC filter performance. All functions
are integrated in one compact component, designed specifically for PCB
mounting. The overload protection in the DA22 is provided by a 1-pole or
2-pole shock-safe fuseholder for 5x20mm fuses. Optimal EMC performance
is achieved by incorporating the filter and shielding directly at the
point of entry. The multifunctional compact size of the unit requires
minimal space on the PCB compared to other solutions using discrete
components. Pre-wired between the inlet and fuseholder, the DA22
eliminates wiring of these components and minimizes assembly time with
