Tax Incentives Available When
Purchasing Conveyors
A recently-passed "Economic Stimulus Package" contains provisions
that support capital investment, including the purchase of conveyors.Â
Highlights include: Companies that purchase less than $800,000 worth of
capital assets in a year can expense the first $250,000 of capital
investments made in 2008. Companies may be able to take the first-year
bonus/accelerated depreciation – 50 percent of the cost of the
investment. (The remainder can be depreciated under regular depreciation
rules.) To qualify, the equipment must be purchased and placed into
service in 2008. Small companies can take advantage of the $250,000
deduction as well as the 50 percent expensing allowance.
