Supply Chain Cost Reduction - Approach With Aggression, Intelligence
All businesses are being asked to cut costs in this economic crisis, but the tendency to use scissors instead of a scalpel will not increase profitability. An aggressive, yet intelligent, approach to supply chain cost reduction is the best way to survive and emerge even stronger once conditions improve. "Cut, cut, cut is simply not a successful strategy," says Jim Tompkins, President and CEO of Tompkins Associates, a global supply chain consulting firm. "I see companies today making cuts across the board without understanding where their real profitability lies, and this inevitably leads to stagnation and declining profits."

T-Handled Power Mover Maximizes Control
NEEHAH, WI: The new T-handled, cordless CartMover™ from Appleton Manufacturing maximizes control, maneuverability and operator comfort while safely and securely moving heavy loads on wheels. Dual hand grips with protective guarding and built-in throttle allow for two-handed operation and greater control over steering and maneuverability. The battery-powered, T-handled CartMover operates similar to a pallet jack. All controls are conveniently located on the T-handle. A red belly button safety switch between the hand grips turns the mover off if it pushes against the operator. A push-pin at the base of the unit easily locks the T-handle at a steeper angle for operation in tight quarters. Tool-free battery changes take as little as 10 seconds. The CartMover comes standard with a battery recharging station and the choice of one hitch. --- Appleton Mfg.
Zero Level Lift & Tilt
WALLED LAKE, MI: New Zero Level Lift and Tilt provides an easy method for loading material onto a lift table using a pallet jack. No need to wait for a fork lift or spend money on expensive floor excavation. The lift's platform is only 3/8" lowered and the lift travels 25.5 inches. The tilt can be operated independently of the lift, positioning materials perfectly within the operator's reach for better ergonomics. The 2,000 lb capacity lift and tilt is controlled easily with a joystick controller on a pedestal. Roller wheels are captured to prevent the lift table from tipping, and internal anchoring holes are provided to secure the lift to the floor. Safety skirting is available. Herkules' engineering team can customize the Zero Lift and Tilt to solve a customers' specific material handling need. The platform dimensions, the tilt's retaining corners, and other features can be specified into a design that provides a solution for improving the customer's productivity. Herkules' pneumatic lift systems are virtually maintenance-free, with no messy fluids or costly cylinders to replace. --- Herkules Equipment Corp.
