FREE stickers help promote aerial
safety
AWPT, Inc., the American Work Platform Training subsidiary of IPAF
(the International Powered Access Federation), has announced the
availability of FREE stickers that, when placed on an aerial work
platform (AWP) or mast climbing work platform (MCWP), ask the operator
if they have been properly trained in the operation of the equipment.
AWPs and MCWPs are not suitable for use by untrained personnel and
operator training is required by both OSHA and ANSI Standards prior to
equipment use. These stickers will help remind operators that they must
first be trained before operating the equipment.

Supply Chain Subjects to Monitor in
2010
With many global economists predicting flat or very slow growth for
several years as major economies recover from severe recessions, large
multinational corporations will start to focus on strategic, longer-term
projects to achieve competitive advantage. Leading companies will
emphasize sustainability in making global sourcing and fulfillment
decisions. While sustainability in terms of greenhouse gases will be an
important factor, the concern for global companies will be much broader
and incorporate risk factors such as supplier and customer financial
risk; volatility in global commodity, energy and labor costs; regulatory
compliance, security and safety risks; and shifting patterns in a
tug-of-war between protectionism and free trade agreements. Decisions
made previously based solely on cost will be held accountable to a whole
new set of additional questions by executives, board of directors and
shareholders. The conversation and questions will shift from "can we?"
to "should we?" and "how long can this last?"

Pallet Load Leveler
ATTLEBORO, MA: A new hydraulic load leveler for use in the manual
loading and unloading of pallets has been introduced by Presto Lifts
Inc. The P4™ improves worker productivity and reduces fatigue.
Its platform lowers to floor height so that pallets can be placed and
removed using a hand pallet truck. In loading operations, a pallet is
placed on the platform and the platform is raised by hydraulic power to
its full "UP" position. As goods are loaded onto the pallet, the
platform is lowered so that each succeeding tier of goods can be loaded
at the same height. When unloading pallets, the platform starts at its
lowest height and is progressively raised so that each succeeding tier
of goods can be removed at the same height. --- Presto Lifts

V-Lift™ Hydraulic Material
Lift
WAUKESHA, WI: "V-Lift™" is a hydraulically operated,
cantilever material lift can be installed either in a shaftway, or
free-standing with optional structural framing. It incorporates
industry-leading technology and attractive features such as guide
columns constructed of 6-inch wide-flange structural steel, and a
state-of-the art hydraulic ram with large 2-1/2 inch diameter dual
pistons that deliver a smoother, more positive lifting motion than
competitive designs. The V-Lift's robust single-cylinder hydraulic
system prevents twisting during operation and eliminates all moving
hoses, cables, and chains. The standard V-Lift™ carriage dimension
is 6 ft. x 6 ft. with a lifting capacity up to 3,000 lbs. ---
