RTC
Rodless Cylinder Series
Ideal for powerful applications in tight installation conditions, the
new RTC series of pneumatic rodless cylinders from Rexroth are available
in four versions. The RTC cylinders feature an oval-shaped piston, for
excellent load and high moment capacity. The slide and piston are
constructed as a single unit, so it can move maximum loads even on
smaller cylinders. The RTC also features a modern, uniform design with
rounded profile edges to minimize material consumption and is available
in NPT and ISO ports.

Graphic Symbols for Arc Welding and
Cutting Apparatus
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has
published EW 4-2009, the first new edition in 15 years. This standard
provides manufacturers and users of arc welding and cutting equipment
with a system for the development and use of graphic symbols for use on
their equipment. It accommodates non-English speaking and functionally
illiterate workers in the U.S. In addition, globalization of the welding
and cutting industry has also expanded, making it necessary for
U.S.-based manufacturers to design and mark their products in a way that
is more easily understood by a more linguistically and culturally
diverse customer base. As a result, the new edition of EW 4 contains
all pertinent graphic symbols recognized by IEC TC 26, the international
standards committee for electric welding and allied processes.

Methods Machine Tools Celebrates 50th
Anniversary
In 2009, Methods Machine Tools Inc. is celebrating the 50th
anniversary of their company. Originally founded in November of 1958,
with 3 employees and a few refurbished machines, Methods has grown into
one of the largest, most innovative precision machine tool importers in
North America with over 300 employees, 7 facilities/technology centers

Woods Elected President of
AMT
AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology's Board of
Directors has announced that it has elected Douglas K. Woods as AMT
President. Woods comes to AMT from Parlec, Inc., a company that
specializes in tooling, workholding and presetting solutions, where he
was president. Prior to that post, he was president of Parlec
International. Woods was a member of AMT's Board of Directors from
2000-08 and was its chairman in 2005-06. He was also chairman of the
committee for AMT's Custom Automated Systems Group.

Compact Smog-Hog® MSH Mist Collector
Requires Fewer Cleanings
CINCINNATI, OH: United Air Specialists, Inc. announces the MSH mist
collector as the newest addition to the Smog-Hog line of electrostatic
precipitators (ESP). Measuring at only 27" x 21" x 20", the compact MSH
is equipped with the largest capacity ESP collection cell in the
industry, which captures three to four times the amount of fume than
other similar systems — leading to fewer cleanings and added cost
savings. The Smog-Hog MSH utilizes a variable speed drive motor
producing air volume up to 500 CFM, which enables users to adjust
airflow and overall energy use as needed. Additionally, the MSH uses a
heavy-duty mist-stop coalescing pre-filter and metal mesh after-filter
for maximum contaminant collection. The Smog-Hog MSH is ideal for mist
collection applications such as metal drilling, CNC machining, screw
machines, plastic extruding and finishing. Accessories include mounting

First DCC CMM Under $20,000
NIAGARA FALLS, NY: American-made, shop hardened automatic coordinate
measuring machine designed for small and medium sized parts at an
introductory price under $20,000. Called the PHOENIX RB, it is a DCC
system with a measuring capacity of 12" x 12" x 10", and is a complete,
ready-to-run machine with a "real estate friendly" compact footprint.
Helmel has been a dedicated broad-line CMM builder in Niagara Falls, NY,
and since 1973 has cultivated the more rugged and durable mechanical
bearing concepts, developing a reputation for smaller benchtop and
mini-CMMs in addition to larger offerings. The PHOENIX RB is a
self-contained moving bridge design with a full granite table on a

Flap Discs Provide Additional Cooling When
Grinding Stainless Steel
NORWALK, CT: The PLANTEX® COOL TOP® flap discs are composed
of a high-tech compound that has been specifically developed for
grinding stainless steel. The discs' abrasive fabric is 100 percent pure
zirconium and an additional top-size coating provides increased cooling
to improve grinding performance and service life. The unique abrasive
structure reduces heat and increases grinding production on stainless
steel and super alloys. These discs feature a backing plate made of
natural hemp with a polypropylene binder. Safer working conditions
result from the elimination of fiberglass, mineral fibers and epoxy
resin in the backing plate. This hemp fiber high-tech compound also
provides high insulating, vibration damping and noise-reducing
properties. The disc automatically reduces in size during grinding,
allowing 100 percent utilization of the abrasive fabric. These
environmentally-friendly discs minimize pollution from production to
