Choosing the Right Proportional Valve
for Your Application
Proportional valves are suited to a wide variety of applications in
machinery, basic processes and simple or complex, hydro-pneumatic
systems. They provide a cost effective and compact solution for
controlling flow or pressure at relatively low flow rates. There are
many different designs and styles of proportional valves for varying
operating pressures and flow rates, with either electric or
electro-pneumatic actuation.

How to Get a Head Start on the
Competition
"People are breathing a little easier and optimism is up. Some
"experts" tell us, "The worst is behind us." Yet, spending time
convincing ourselves that the "cup is half full" is both an irresistible
and totally dumb exercise," says John Graham of Graham Communications.
"It wastes personal and business resources, doesn't change anything and
diverts us from taking positive action. If you're expecting the economic
tide to float your boat any time soon, you may be in for a surprise. At
least, that's the way Wal-Mart sees it. According to an Associated Press
story, the company's chairman says, "I think this recovery will be a
slow one." That's why Wal-Mart is on the move. "There is change and
opportunity in a crisis," states Chairman Robson Walton. Wal-Mart, HP,
GE, Siemens and many others are taking big steps raising their
visibility, looking to the future, but also determined to capture more
of existing business. Sure, they're huge enterprises, but why not learn
from the leaders?"

10,000 PSI Bleed Valve
BEREA, OH: 800/850 Series Bleed Valves provide a convenient means
to relieve process pressures trapped between a shut off valve and the
instrument. The 800/850 Bleed Valves use the same patented features as
the NOSHOK 100/150 Series Mini Valves, with an integrated single
threaded body for insertion in a vent port. These Bleed Valves provide
shutoff to a small bleed hole located on the side of the hex which vents
the process media to the atmosphere. They also feature a patent pending
body-to-bonnet, metal-to-metal seat below the bonnet threads isolating
them from the process media. The patent pending design incorporates a
unique dovetail feature that supplements the body-to-bonnet
metal-to-metal seat, which extends the pressure range of the valve
without restricting the flow. These valves are available in electroless
nickel plated 12L14 steel, electropolished 316 stainless steel and 360
brass. All bleed valves are equipped with a Viton® O-ring and
Teflon® back up ring below the stem threads to protect against
corrosion and galling. --- Noshok Inc.

Versatile Valve Offers Manual Shut Off of
Media Flow
BOARDMAN, OH: Series 4600 2-way, normally open or normally closed,
pilot operated diaphragm solenoid valves are offered standard with an
adjustable metering handle to restrict or manually shut off media flow.
Media and pilot can be separated to extend the life of the valve by
keeping corrosive material out of the pilot section. These valves can be
controlled by either an internal or external pilot which allows control
of pressure range applications from 15 psi to 150 psi. The 4600 is
available in 3/4" and 1" sizes with a 25 mm orifice, has an ambient
temperature range of -10°C to +50°C, and is media compatible
with inert gas, water, air and emulsion. In addition, the 4600 has a
glass-filled nylon body and cover, nitrile diaphragm, stainless steel
internal components, nitrile seals, and a standard copper shading ring.
